Our mission statement

We will provide the highest quality of care and pre-school education possible for the children in Small Steps, ensuring firm foundations upon which each child’s future can be built. We will ensure that all children develop a sense of belonging and security cared for by staff who will listen and respond to them. We want to promote an environment which focuses on the development of the whole child, ensuring that when they start their next phase in life they do so with a positive self image, an enquiring mind, a real understanding of what is right and wrong and a confidence to gain maximum success in the future.

Our aims are:

  • To ensure that every child has the chance to achieve their full potential

  • To value and respect each child as an individual

  • To create opportunities for children to discover themselves and the world in which they live

  • To promote quality care for children in a safe, exciting and fun environment

  • To have access to a wide range of experiences and opportunities to develop an enquiring mind

  • To build a close and trusting partnership with our Parents / Carers

Parents as partners

We recognise that Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators. The Key Person’s role of working in partnership with parents is given the upmost importance. We encourage parents and practitioners to work in full partnership at Small Steps which in a way that supports their child’s learning and development. When parents share information about their child , the Key Person uses this information to plan for their key child’s next steps in their learning. Through excellent communication practitioners discuss with parents how they can support learning at home and parents know how Small Steps delivers the EYFS Framework. Parents have many opportunities to meet together and there is always a programme of events planned throughout the year.

The Local Area

Due to our location, your children benefit from a broad range of activities outside of the nursery. Within walking distance of West Kirby town centre and the Concourse which the library is situated in. Activities are planned so that children take full advantage of the local amenities.

'Sam and Jack have developed greatly since they started at Small Steps. The nursery is fantastic and we will definitely be speaking highly about the staff and the setting.'
